Asia Student Leadership Camp 2014
Operation Smile Singapore(OSS) will be organizing its annual Asia Student Leadership Camp (ASLC) in Singapore from 1st to 3rd August, 2014. We are happy to extend invitation to two student leaders from Laos.
Started in 2010 by OSS’ Student Chapter, our student leadership camp has since grown beyond our borders, expanding its presence to involve student leaders from all around Asia. This year, into our third installment of ASLC, there will be around 70 participants from OSS’ Student Chapter, and we are honored to include 28 students from our 14 Asian partner countries, with two students representing each country.
Process of Selection
The selection is to be conducted based strictly on the following criteria:
- Must be students of National University of Laos
- Good academic standing
- Must be able to write and converse fluently in English
- Must be between 18-22 years of age
- Preferable that they have volunteered in Operation Smile activities
- Must not been a participant in previous year’s ASLC
- Must be able to write an essay in English. The essay should show the student’s aptitude to convey their thoughts on a social issue that they feel strongly about. Students must be able to cohesively present their response and the reasons (s) why their chosen issue is important to the society in about 500 words. Country foundation/partners are requested to forward the two winning entries to us. The essay will be used as part of a discussion at conference.
The host will cover the round trip flight ticket, meal and accommodation during the camp held.
The selection interview is to be conducted on Thursday, 24 July 2014, at 09:00 a.m. The venue is Room 205, 2nd Floor, President’s Office, Dong Dok campus, National University of Laos.
